MIRISSA

Weligame is popular tourist destination. The name Weligama itself, in Sinhala, Means "Sandy Village " which is a direct reference to the sandy bay beach in the town. BALAPITIYA


Weather 31 Celsius humid. A grate destination for those who are looking for a "Real Sri Lanka" away from the main-stream tourist resort. Located in the south west cost, Blapitiya is traditionally a fishing village and can see the scattered small fishing hamlets bordering the beach. Fishing trips and river safaris can easily be arranged. Balapitiya has a few shops with cottage crafts that would interest the visitor.

HIKKADUWA















The area is well-known for its coral sanctuary. The impressive coral reef runs just offshore and is populated by exotic fish and sea turtles that come ashore on this beach to lay their eggs. Hikkaduwa is one of the best surfing spots in Sri Lanka, offering a clear warm water base.

BENTOTA


















Bentota is famed as the prime beach resort of the south-western and southern coastal belts of Sri Lanka and famous for water sports. Bentota Beach is ideal for snorkeling, diving, sailing, wind surfing, water-skiing and deep-sea fishing.

KALUTARA



















Located in the South west coast, Kalutara offer travellers a laid back and relaxed atmosphere with wonderful palm fringed beaches, although the nightlife remains pretty low key.
What you will get is plenty of beautiful, tropical scenery and several interesting sights, like the world’s only hollow Buddhist Shrine and an elegant plantation mansion, rather grandly named Richmond Castle.

PASIKUDA
















Pasikuda beach, recognized as one of the safest beaches in Sri Lanka is located in the eastern coast of the Island. The nearest city is Batticoloa. The sea is visualized with crystal clear water. Foreign travelers never miss this beach as it is known as an ideal destination for a sea bath. Pasikuda beach is very famous for Surfing.

TRINCOMALEE










Located in the North east of Sri Lanka, Trincomalee is home to the fine beaches of Nilaveli, Uppuveli and the off-shore Pigeon Island. Recently Trincomalee has become popular as a Whale Watching destination as well. The Dive centers at Nilaveli and Uppuveli offer tourists the opportunity to enjoy their holidays in diving, snorkeling and swimming. 

ARUGAMBAY





















Located in the North east of Sri Lanka, Trincomalee is home to the fine beaches of Nilaveli, The most popular surfing beaches of the island are Hikkaduwa of South Western coastal belt and Arugam bay. (International surfing competition venue) of Eastern coastal belt of Sri Lanka. 

Arugam bay is on the list of the top ten surf points in the world. The best time of the year is between May and November when the predominant wind is offshore for at least the first half of the day.

JAFFNA CITY - SRI LANKA

Jaffna is situated in the northern tip of Sri Lanka and has a predominantly Tamil population and considered a cultural capital of Tamils in Sri Lanka. The locals of Jaffna are indeed wonderful and friendly people and making a trip to this beautiful part of Sri Lanka should be a priority on anyone’s travel plan. 

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN JAFFNA

JAFFNA LIBERY

Jaffna library is a highlight to gain knowledge as well as to travel. It is said that the Jaffna library is the finest library of South Asia. The library complex was built around 1933, as a private collection of books.


JAFFNA FORT
Situated in the south side of the Jaffna Peninsula at the water’s edge of the lagoon, the ancient fort in Jaffna is the second largest existing fort in the Island. Originally built by the Portuguese in 1619 and rebuilt and expanded by the Dutch during the second half of the 17th and the 18th centuries to facilitate trading activities of Sri Lanka’s northern region indicate not only of Jaffna’s strategic importance to Europeans but its significance throughout Sri Lanka’s history.



SANGILIYAN THOPPU

This arch is found in the land where the earlier Tamil King Sangiliyan’s Palace stood. Now there is an entrance arch, but this is said to be part of a later Dutch Building. The sangilean Thoopu is about 2.7 km from Jaffna bus stand.


NAINATHEEVU
There are boat services available and the boat ride is an enjoyable way to visit the island. The Island is a bit far from Jaffna and it will take around 2-3 hours to get there, depending on the availability of the boats.
Original temple was built by a rich foreign trader who received blessing from Goddess Ambal Devi when passing by in the sea, was demolished in the sixteen century by Portuguese. However Ambal statue was hidden by locals and temple was rebuilt in 18 century. The actual Gopuram was added in 1933. Many parents bring their new-born babies to this temple seeking the blessing of Goddess Meenkashi (wife of Shiva) to whom this temple is now dedicated.

NAGADIPA PURANA VIHARAYA

This Temple is one of the three places in Sri Lanka where Lord Buddha has visited. The beautiful island, Nagadipa is a sandy shore covered with Coconut palm trees and Palmyrah palm trees.
Buddha's foot print is another curious feature of Nagadipa Purana Viharaya. Thus this peaceful and religious place is a must see site on a visit to Jaffna. The whole journey is overwhelming.

KADURAGODA VIHARAYA (KANTARODAI)
There is a historical place called 'Kandarodei' situated in the midst of palmyrah trees beyond Manipai about 10 Kilometers away from Jaffna. There are small dagobas numbering 61 scattered over about 1/2 acre land.


CASUARINA BEACH
One of the best beaches in the Jaffna peninsula, the shallow waters and the very gentle waves making it an ideal place for safe sea bathing. The beach gets this name as the Casuarina trees along the beach. Beach is situated in Allaippiddy, which is located some 23 Km North of Jaffna Town.

KEERIMALAI
Keeramalai is famous for two things, the Naguleswaram kovil and the mineral water springs. The Keeramalai water spring is believed to have curing abilities. It is just next to the sea and truly is a wonder of nature. The kovil is one of the oldest shrines in Sri Lanka and a sacred destination of Hindu’s.

DAMBAKOLA PATUNA
An ancient port in Sri Lanka, Dambakola Patuna is best known as the place where Theri Sangamitta landed in Sri Lanka. She brought the first Bo sapling to Sri Lanka. There is a temple and a statue of the theri built here. The beach is just next to the temple if you want to relax for a while.
